Mix softened butter, sugar, egg and flour together in a mixer. Pat into a 9” spring form pan covering the bottom and about 1 ½ “ up the sides.
Beat the cream cheese, egg sugar and vanilla together until smooth. Pour over pastry.
Toss the sliced apples with sugar and cinnamon mixture. Arrange the apple slices over the cheese mixture and sprinkle with the almonds. Carefully push down any crust the extends upward beyond the filling as this will burn.
Place torte in a pre-heated 450F degree oven for 10 minutes and then reduce heat to 400F and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes. (You can also double the filling ingredients and cook at 400F for 10 minutes and then 375F for 40-45 minutes).
